We’re delighted to announce that we are a Finalist in the Somerset Business Awards 2022.
We’ve reached the Finals in the ‘Environmental Achievement’ category, which is sponsored by Gravity. Regular readers of our Blog will know that we take our responsibility to the planet very seriously, and over the years have invested heavily in plant and equipment which will reduce our carbon footprint. This includes the 1-megawatt boiler on site which provides heat for our two kilns and the manufacturing buildings, which is powered by the biomass fuel we produce; and the solar panels and batteries which we use to charge our electric forklifts during out of work hours.
Even the pallets which are returned to us for repair are subject to our environmental policies, with the pallets which cannot be repaired chipped into biomass fuel for our boiler, after the nails have been removed and taken to a scrapyard for recycling.
We’re now getting our gladrags ready for the Awards ceremony, which is being held at the Winter Gardens Pavilion in Weston-super-Mare on March 11.
