Children in Need Fundraising Event
Somerlap Forest Products Ltd, based in Mark, Highbridge, joined with Weare & District Scouts to offer a ‘relaxing car wash experience’ raising funds for Children In Need. Staff at Somerlap Forest Products Ltd served tea, coffee and biscuits to customers whilst the Scouts washed their cars. We operated for 2 hours on Sat 08-Nov-08, and almost 20 cars later, raised £150 for Children In Need.
The icing on the cake was when the BBC invited the group to take part in the BBC Children In Need Regional live broadcast. Somerlap and the Scouts were amongst only a handful of fundraisers to be invited. Somerlap staff and Scouts travelled to Minehead on Fri 14-Nov-08. Some of the group took part in the Guinness World record attempt at the largest pillow fight.
“We would like to say a big thank you to all those who either supported us on the day. Also thanks to those who visited us on the day, simply to donate money rather than have their cars washed. And of course, a big thank you to Somerlap staff and their children, the Scouts and their parents who worked extremely hard on the day”.
