Helping Provide Sunken Retreat for Hospice
Kevin Bond, of Somerlap Forest Products has agreed to supply wood for a new garden at Charlton Farm children’s hospice in Wraxall.
The garden, The Sunken Retreat, is being designed and planted by award-winning garden designer Mark Walker.
Mark previously designed a garden especially for Mid Somerset News & Media at the Bath & West Showground’s National Amateur Gardening Show. Mark’s inspiration came from the fantasy tales The Lord of The Rings and the garden includes a hobbit-style house containing an array of sensory toys. He has appealed for help from businesses and individuals – and he has a long shopping list. So far, trees, turf, paint and brushes have been promised, as well as fencing, sensory items and toys, a skip and blocks, not to mentioned hours of labour from various builders. Mark said “I’m so grateful for the support I have received for this project. It is really important to me, having come up with the design, to actually build this for the children and families using the hospice.”
